Sella’s werk vertrekt altijd vanuit verbinding - Verbinding met jezelf, met de wereld en met de natuur. In haar werk komen ethiek en esthetiek samen; het welzijn van de wereld, gelijkwaardigheid en inclusiviteit zijn belangrijke thema’s in zowel haar kunst als persoonlijke leven. Door de overlap en gelaagdheid van haar collages ontstaan er een abstracte, intuïtieve beeldtaal van organische vormen, vrouwelijke silhouetten, vloeiende lijnen en natuurlijke kleuren, altijd balancerend tussen techniek en controle en oneindige vrijheid.
“Na de massale rode lijn demonstraties voelde ik de kracht van het collectief. Waar voorheen de anti genocide geluid vrij bescheiden en voorzichtig bleef, voelde ik hier voor het eerst dat mensen massaal de ogen hadden geopend. De verbinding en hoop die ik daar heb gevoeld heb ik omgezet in een serie werken waaronder The Collective. Want “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. Verbinding is het antwoord op onverdraagzaamheid, liefde het antwoord op haat. Ik geloof in en put hoop uit een positieve beweging van van mensen die deze waarden ook onderschrijven.”

Sella’s work always begins from a place of connection - connection with oneself, with the world, and with nature. In her practice, ethics and aesthetics converge; the well-being of the world, equality, and inclusivity are central themes in both her art and her personal life. Through the overlap and layering of her collages, an abstract, intuitive visual language emerges, one of organic forms, feminine silhouettes, fluid lines, and natural colors, always balancing between technique and control, and boundless freedom.
After the massive Red Line demonstrations, I felt the power of the collective. Whereas previously the anti-genocide voice had remained fairly modest and cautious, here for the first time I sensed that people had collectively opened their eyes. The connection and hope I experienced there I translated into a series of works, including The Collective. For, ‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.’ Connection is the answer to intolerance, love the answer to hate. I believe in, and draw hope from, a positive movement of people who also embrace these values.
