IDFA Meets ACFP
[English below]
Wanneer is protest effectief?

Art Collective For Peace (ACFP) is a group of creators and thinkers who use art to spark movement—both literally and figuratively. Through projects like Cinema of Resistance and unexpected pop-up exhibitions, they are building a creative platform where activism and imagination go hand in hand. Their approach brings people together around urgent issues, using art as a catalyst for dialogue and collective action.
Together with IDFA Meets, ACFP explores the theme of protest this afternoon—not only as an act of resistance, but also as a form of connection. In a time when the right to protest is increasingly under pressure, we will examine both the power and the vulnerability of public action. What drives people to take to the streets? When is protest effective? And what changes—in the world, or within yourself?
Expect an afternoon filled with film, conversation, and shared reflection. On risk and solidarity, on power and movement, on being heard and making yourself heard.
The full program will be announced soon.

Foragers (2022) by Jumana Manna is a captivating film that explores the tension between tradition, ecology, and state control. Set in the landscapes of Palestine, the film delves into the practice of foraging wild edible plants like za'atar and akkoub, which are deeply tied to cultural heritage but face legal restrictions under conservation laws. Blending documentary and fictional elements, Foragers highlights the complex interplay between environmental protection and the preservation of ancestral traditions, offering a poignant reflection on cultural identity, resilience, and resistance.
