Elke nieuwe technologie, of het nu gaat om de verftube, de smartphone of Google Earth, verandert onze blik. Zo krijg je steeds een nieuwe ervaring van de schijnbaar ‘echte’ wereld. Ons werk draait om dit mechanisme en richt zich daarbinnen speciaal op de poëzie van beweging en verplaatsing in tijd en ruimte.

Every new technology, whether it’s the paint tube, the smartphone, or Google Earth, reshapes the way we see the world. Each innovation offers a new experience of what we perceive as the ‘real’ world. Our work revolves around this mechanism, with a particular focus on the poetry of movement and displacement in time and space.

Vijf december, 9:41 uur in de ochtend op Google Earth. We staan achter het Nederlandse Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid in Den Haag op het Malieveld. De lokale kermis laat muziek horen, die over gaat in een ‘noodoproep van een migrantenboot. Twee werelden botsen. Deze drie still-prints zijn speciaal ontwikkeld voor het IDFA meets ACFP event. De video was gemaakt voor The One Minutes, thema Public Justice - samengesteld door Quinsy Gario, en is geïnspireerd door het opiniestuk van Kiza Magendane “Ons geweten mag niet ophouden bij de grens”. December 5, 9:41 in the morning on Google Earth. We are standing behind the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security in The Hague, on the Malieveld. The local fair plays music, which shifts into a ‘distress call’ from a migrant boat. Two worlds collide. These three still-prints were specially developed for the IDFA meets ACFP event. The video was created for The One Minutes, theme Public Justice – curated by Quinsy Gario – and is inspired by Kiza Magendane’s opinion piece ‘Our conscience must not stop at the border’ (NRC, 2017-12-02)
